The Pershing County Mustangs lost against the West Wendover Wolverines back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Pershing County received a tough blow as they fell 57-39 to the Wolverines. Pershing County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Kienbaum, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Rhodes, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Adryan Carlos, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six blocks for West Wendover. Carlos hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Osvaldo Carrillo, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Pershing County's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13. As for West Wendover, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Pershing County and the Lions will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Yerington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday. As for West Wendover, they and the Longhorns will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Battle Mountain is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.
