Corbin Douglas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Central Noble saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landyn Champion, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Champion's first of the season.
Westview not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024 (when they won 13-0). They blew past West Noble 12-0. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Max Engle made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Westview: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 1-4 otherwise. Engle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Engle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Engle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Noble only posted an OBP of .059.
Central Noble's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Westview, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Central Noble couldn't quite get it done against Westview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
