The Centennial Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-59 to Cypress. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Centennial came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in Nevada, while Cypress is ranked 64th in California).
Despite the loss, Centennial still got an impressive performance from RJ Nance, who scored 31 points. Those 31 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Kelly, who scored seven points.
Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Cypress, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Cimarron-Memorial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. Cypress will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Somerset Academy Losee at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th.
