Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, everything went Charlotte Catholic's way against Charlotte Country Day School as Charlotte Catholic made off with a 62-42 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.
Charlotte Catholic had a senior duo take command as Blanca Thomas scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and Gracynn Gough scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Charlotte Catholic's points. Maggie Kernodle was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Watauga entered their tilt with Shelby with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Watauga took their matchup at home on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 66-13 victory over Shelby. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Watauga has managed all season.
Watauga got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Diane McGlamery out in front who scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kate Sears, who scored seven points along with 11 assists and five rebounds.
Charlotte Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Watauga, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Charlotte Catholic hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57.2 points per game. It's a different story for Watauga, though, as they've been averaging only 59.8 points per game. The only thing between Charlotte Catholic and another offensive beatdown is Watauga. Will they be able to keep them contained?
