The contest between St. Paul Catholic and Waterbury Career Academy wasn't particularly close, with St. Paul Catholic falling 38-22. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Paul Catholic in their matchups with Waterbury Career Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
D'vonte Lane had a dynamite game for Waterbury Career Academy, rushing for 181 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Mekheem Ambursley was another key contributor, rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown.
St. Paul Catholic's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 1-7. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 3-8 Wilby and 3-6 Derby (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.6% over those games). As for Waterbury Career Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-4.
