The Holmdel Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the Long Branch Green Wave at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holmdel is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Holmdel will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Freehold Boro, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Hornets blew past the Colonials 6-0 on Monday. Six seems to be a good number for the Hornets as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The result came thanks to Dylan Zammit's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Holmdel let Logan Cardinoza and Nick Rakoski run wild. Cardinoza went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Rakoski went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave Cardinoza a new career-high. Ethan Barry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Shore Regional hit Long Branch with a seven-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Green Wave came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 13-3. The game marked the Green Wave's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Jaylen Brooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Campbell, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Holmdel pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Long Branch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Holmdel took their victory against Long Branch in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
