Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Nazareth Kingsmen proved on Friday. They blew past Holy Cross 80-50 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Nazareth.
Nazareth was led to victory by Halon Rawlins and Tristan Rogers. Rawlins scored 20 points along with 3 blocks, while Rogers went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Moody, who scored 10 points.
When it comes to explaining why Holy Cross lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Moreno. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Avery Taitt-Christina, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Nazareth's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nazareth will play host again and welcome Bishop Loughlin, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holy Cross, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cathedral Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
