The West Noble Chargers will take on the Garrett Railroaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Noble is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.
West Noble barely beat Prairie Heights the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Jordan Eash made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Eash was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Trey Shisler was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Matthew Trinklein was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
West Noble was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Garrett sidestepped Churubusco for a 4-3 win.
Grant Byers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Garrett saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Ice, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That run marked the first that Ice has scored this season.
West Noble's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Garrett, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Garrett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Noble hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. It's a different story for Garrett, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain West Noble's hitters?
West Noble might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Garrett in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
