Baseball Recap: Blue Ridge Snags 11th Win in Last 12 Games

While Blue Ridge put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Southwest Virginia Academy. The Jays blew past the Conquerors 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Jays, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Paul Berry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lochlan 'Bear' Paul was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Josh Craig was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Blue Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Blue Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Virginia Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Blue Ridge beat the Conquerors by a score of 10-0 later that day.
