Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edgewood Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexie Smith, who scored 23 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Brown, who scored 23 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Evangel Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Edgewood Academy, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with that win, which was their 22nd straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangel Christian will challenge Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuscaloosa Home Educators is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Edgewood Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Evangel Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Evangel Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Edgewood Academy is ranked 54th).
