The Wausa Vikings and the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors will face off at 7:45 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wausa will be strutting in after a win while Neligh-Oakdale will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Wausa has not done well against Hartington-Newcastle recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Wausa walked away with a 48-36 win over Hartington-Newcastle.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wausa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Preston Schlote, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Schindler, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Neligh-Oakdale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 69-32 loss at the hands of Bloomfield. Neligh-Oakdale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-16.
Wausa's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Neligh-Oakdale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Wausa came up short against Neligh-Oakdale in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 51-41. Can Wausa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
