The La Plata Warriors's four-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They skirted past Calvert 55-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as La Plata also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Austin Ashley was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Dwayne Liggins, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
La Plata's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Calvert, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Plata will take on St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Charles presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than La Plata in Maryland (St. Charles is ranked 75th, while La Plata is ranked 237th). As for Calvert, they will head out on the road to face off against Lackey at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lackey is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
