Lighthouse Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to eighth in 8-Man Freelance (8 Man). Earlier in the week, the Saints defeated Westmark 20-12.
Mojave extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Trinity Classical Academy, 29-20. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Calvary Chapel's dynamic duo of Nathan Jewell and Zechariah Laidlaw proved tough for Concordia to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jewell threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns and Laidlaw had 79 yards receiving. B.J. Bell helped Calvary Chapel's passing attack out by catching one ball for 30 yards.
Robert Reed was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 163 yards on 14 carries as Orcutt Academy topped the Cougars. Nate Debruno also contributed to the rushing game with 45 yards on the ground.
Zech Gonzales made the biggest impact on defense this week as Calvary Chapel topped Concordia. The 5-foot-11 senior recorded one fumble and racked up 1.0 sack.
Tom Laidlaw's team's Jewell and Bell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 8-Man Freelance (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Jewell has thrown for 1332 yards this season, while Bell, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 20 catches for 504 yards. The Spartans' Reed leads the league in rushing yards with 526.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Pacific Lutheran takes on Lutheran. The Stingrays are in fifth place, while the Trojans are in 10th place.
Mojave was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Knights. Larry Satterfield's team came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
