The Excel Christian Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whittell 63-24 on the road. Excel Christian pushed the score to 53-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Whittell had no chance of recovering from.
Mark Doerfler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 35 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Whittell's loss came despite strong showings from Rocky Laremore and Evander Lezama-Demazo. Laremore scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Lezama-Demazo scored three points along with four blocks and three steals.
The victory got Excel Christian back to even at 10-10. As for Whittell, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel Christian will square off against Pyramid Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
