There's no place like home for the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate with a sharp 77-51 win on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Winthrop College Prep Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate is ranked 77th).
Jason Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Stephen Miller was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Winthrop College Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2.
Winthrop College Prep Academy will face off against Admiral Farragut at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Admiral Farragut has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they will head out on the road to square off against Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
