The Kennedy Commanders had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 51-47 win over Lincoln on Friday. The victory was just what Kennedy needed coming off of a 83-56 loss in their prior matchup.
Kennedy found their leader in underclassman Anthony Zink, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Trujillo, who scored five points along with seven assists.
Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Adeshina Alassani, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. Another player making a difference was King Stancil, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Kennedy's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Lincoln, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Kennedy will take on the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver North presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lancers in Colorado (the Vikings are ranked 114th, while the Lancers are ranked 230th).
