Bayard Rustin is 9-1 against Great Valley since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Golden Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Patriots at 3:45 p.m. Bayard Rustin will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Bayard Rustin got the win against Kennett by a conclusive 14-3. The Golden Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Ashley Falcone was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jenna Kraft was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Belle Skupp also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Bayard Rustin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Valley). They put the hurt on Sun Valley with a sharp 17-3 victory on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Patriots with their most commanding win of the season.
Like Bayard Rustin, Great Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Sarah Yost. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Yost was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Culbertson, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Mattison, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Bayard Rustin pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Great Valley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.
Great Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bayard Rustin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Great Valley, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Bayard Rustin's sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bayard Rustin was able to grind out a solid victory over Great Valley in their previous meeting back in April, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
