The Conifer Lobos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 69-28 loss at the hands of Thornton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Conifer has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Despite the loss, Conifer still got an impressive performance from Jordan Zitkus, who scored five points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Benson White, who scored six points along with two steals.
Thornton was led to victory by Alex Sandovol and Clayton Jones. Sandovol scored 16 points along with seven assists and three steals, while Jones dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gerardo Cepeda, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Conifer's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Thornton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Conifer will head out on the road to square off against Alameda at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Thornton, they will play host again and welcome Gateway, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
