The Victory Charter Vipers suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Greenleaf Friends Academy by a score of 26-24. Victory Charter lost against Greenleaf Friends Academy in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-31 score last time.
Despite the loss, Victory Charter still got an impressive performance from Camille Royer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 41.7% of Victory Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keanna Gibbs, who scored seven points.
Leading Greenleaf Friends Academy to victory were LIDIA OVALLE and HOPE MILLER. OVALLE scored four points along with ten rebounds and four steals, while MILLER dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. MILLER continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Victory Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Charter will take on Idaho City at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Idaho City is ranked 133rd, while Victory Charter is ranked 140th). As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Gem State Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th.
