Lancaster-Lebanon 2 recap October 8, 2013
Lampeter-Strasburg scaled the state rankings by moving to 132 from 190 this week, the biggest jump in Lancaster-Lebanon 2. The Pioneers were able to move up by topping Elizabethtown 38-13.
Conestoga Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. The Buckskins beat Ephrata 17-13 earlier in the week.
Jhet Janis was a passing and rushing force as Cocalico lost to Manheim Central. He completed 10 passes for 140 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 60 yards. Janis' favorite target this week was Spencer Moser, who caught 4 passes for 93 yards.
Moser was the best wideout in the league this week as the Eagles fell to the Barons. Moser tallied 4 receptions for 93 yards. Mitchell Shober helped Cocalico's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 30 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Tyler Cottle of the Bears is the league leader in passing yards this season with 610. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jamaar Parker. The Conestoga Valley star has 16 catches for 306 yards.
Manheim Central's Marc Royer needs only 71 yards against Lampeter-Strasburg next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 80 carries Royer has put up 929 yards this year.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Conestoga Valley's Parker goes up against Solanco's Toby Kreider.
An important game coming up in Lancaster-Lebanon 2 this week will be when Cocalico takes on Lebanon. As it stands, Dave Gingrich's team is in second, while the Cedars are in third.
Mike Williams' team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Eagles, 24-12. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
