Baseball Recap: Brandon Wins Going Away Against Petal

Brandon barely beat Petal the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Brandon blew past Petal 10-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grady Smith, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Adcox, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Brandon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Brandon pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Petal, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-5.

Brandon will have a chance to go back-to-back against Petal: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
