After flying high against the O'Neal Falcons last Tuesday, the Berean Baptist Academy Bulldogs came back down to earth. Berean Baptist Academy fell 68-61 to Grace Christian on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Berean Baptist Academy still got an impressive performance from Josiah Sanders, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanders has scored all season. Amari Goggins was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Grace Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Jones, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Zimmerman, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Berean Baptist Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Grace Christian, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-8.
Berean Baptist Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Overhills at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Overhills is ranked 344th, while Berean Baptist Academy is ranked 332nd). As for Grace Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Wesleyan Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wesleyan Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
