The Wayne Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Fairbury Jeffs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
If Wayne beats Fairbury with 12 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Thurston-Cuming County on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Jaxson Kneifl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Kneifl was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Adrian Contreras was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brodey Munter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Wayne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thurston-Cuming County only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, Fairbury lost 17-4 to Lincoln Christian on Tuesday. The Jeffs have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Fairbury saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dakota Zimmerman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Jamison Runge also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Fairbury's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Wayne, their record is now 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wayne has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fairbury struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wayne got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Fairbury by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Jeffs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
