The South Florence Bruins will face off against the East Clarendon Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, South Florence put up the most points they have all season on Thursday. They blew past Darlington 19-4. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won five matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Kellin Croshaw looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Jhordyn Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Khalon McGee, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
South Florence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, East Clarendon came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 10-7. Ten seems to be a good number for the Wolverines as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Foster Matthews made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Mixon, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two stolen bases. Gavin White was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
South Florence has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. East Clarendon's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
