Basketball Game Preview: Independent Baptist Academy Kings vs. Milford Christian Conquerors

The Independent Baptist Academy Kings are taking a road trip to square off against the Milford Christian Conquerors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Independent Baptist Academy has six straight victories, Milford Christian has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Independent Baptist Academy made easy work of Odenton Christian and carried off a 54-32 win. The Kings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Independent Baptist Academy found their leader in sophomore Jacob Rainey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Rainey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Kirby, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Independent Baptist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Milford Christian came up short against Bayview Christian on Tuesday and fell 48-38.

Independent Baptist Academy will need focus on slowing down Keegan Fitzwater, one of several Milford Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He scored 12 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Johnson, who had five points along with 27 rebounds and six blocks.

Independent Baptist Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Milford Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything came up roses for Independent Baptist Academy against Milford Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the squad secured a 59-8 win. In that game, Independent Baptist Academy amassed a halftime lead of 36-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
