South San Antonio has gone a perfect 4-0 against Highlands recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will take on the Owls at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Highlands will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: South San Antonio extended their winning streak to 13 on Saturday. The Bobcats put the hurt on Harlandale with a sharp 13-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their two-run performance the match before.
Catalina Bonilla looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Raena Ramirez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Sophia Balzadua also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
South San Antonio hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Highlands challenged Brackenridge on Thursday. The Owls were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Eagles.
Ciera Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, earning one RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Analia Aparicio was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jenesis Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
South San Antonio pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Highlands, their record now sits at 11-7.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South San Antonio has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Highlands struggles in that department as they've averaged .564. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South San Antonio came out on top in a nail-biter against Highlands in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
