The Dayton Bulldogs will face off against the Columbia Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Dayton turned things around against Tekoa-Rosalia on Monday. They blew past the Timberwolves 23-14.

Alexa Jones and Lila Hutchens did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Hutchens went 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Hutchens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skyla Johnson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dayton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Columbia got the win against Tri-Cities Prep on Friday by a conclusive 17-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.
Makena Kranz made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Columbia let Gracelyn Waters and Joci Laws run wild. Waters went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Laws went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That triple was Waters' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nancy Leahy, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Columbia now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Dayton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dayton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Columbia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dayton took their win against Columbia when the teams last played back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 21-5 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Coyotes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
