There's no place like home for the Bennett Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Platte Canyon 58-44 on Thursday. For Bennett, this counts as revenge for the 47-40 loss Platte Canyon walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Jayden Ivory, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Stiers, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack McMahen, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that McMahen scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Leo Batzer, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Bennett pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Platte Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bennett will take on KIPP Denver Collegiate at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Platte Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sheridan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Platte Canyon is facing Sheridan at the right time seeing as Sheridan is stuck on a 11-game losing streak.
