It was a good run, but the Jones Fightin' Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Boone by a score of 62-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (56), Jones still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cheo James, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which James has scored at least 25% of Boone's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erik Boyer, who scored 18 points.
Jones' defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Boone, they pushed their record up to 7-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Jones won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lake Nona at 6:30 p.m. on January 11th. Lake Nona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Jones is ranked 124th). Boone won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oak Ridge on January 11th. One thing working in Oak Ridge's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
