Highland has gone 9-1 against Barberton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Magics at 5:00 p.m. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Highland came out on top against Cuyahoga Falls on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Hornets never let the Black Tigers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on three straight.
Cooper Richnafsky looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Highland let Nick Dobkowski and Peyton Ganda run wild. Dobkowski went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs, while Ganda went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Dobkowski has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Koch, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive games.
Barberton hadn't beaten Aurora on the road since May 4, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Magics came out on top against the Greenmen by a score of 7-3. The Magics haven't had any issues with the Greenmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Javon Clayton, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Marianno Daugherty also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Barberton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Highland, their record now sits at 17-3.
Barberton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Barberton, though, as they've only averaged .254. Will they be able to contain Highland's hitters?
Highland skirted past Barberton 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
