Cannon had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Davidson Day Patriots on Tuesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Davidson Day scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22.
Cannon's offense was headlined by Mia McHugh and Carly Benz, who picked up five kills apiece. McHugh really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with ten. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
The win (which was Davidson Day's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Looking ahead, Cannon will venture away from home to challenge Christ the King at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Davidson Day, they will face off against Chapman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
