The Oakwood Comets will challenge the Armstrong Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Oakwood will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Oakwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cissna Park a 17-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Cam Harris looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Oakwood let Jackson Dudley and Chase Harrison run wild. Dudley went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Harrison got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Dudley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Oakwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Armstrong came up short against Iroquois West on Friday and fell 7-4.
Ryan Edwards was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Oakwood's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Armstrong, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oakwood has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Armstrong struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oakwood skirted past Armstrong 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
