The Timpview Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Cedar Valley Aviators at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Timpview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Tuesday, Timpview was able to grind out a solid victory over Spanish Fork, taking the game 56-46. Given Timpview's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Spanish Fork is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Timpview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lina Ballin out in front who scored 21 points along with six assists and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ballin has scored at least a third of Timpview's points. Another player making a difference was Livia Eyre, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cedar Valley earned a 52-40 win over Salem Hills on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cedar Valley.
Timpview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Cedar Valley, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Timpview barely slipped by Cedar Valley in their previous matchup on January 5th, winning 43-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cedar Valley's Hadley Whiting, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Timpview still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
