The Liberty Common Eagles's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 44-43 win over Wellington. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Liberty Common also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty Common to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Falsetto, who scored 11 points. Akeeva Farrell was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Wellington's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Essay, who scored 18 points along with four steals. That was a full 41.9% of Wellington's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brookelyn Jones, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Liberty Common's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Wellington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Common will challenge Flatirons Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Flatirons Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games. As for Wellington, they will head out on the road to face off against Platte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Platte Valley: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Wellington has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
