The St. Joseph Wildcats will square off against the Millville Thunderbolts at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Millville will be up against a hot St. Joseph team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Wildcats put the hurt on Ocean City with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Elaina Portalatin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Kaylin Marshall was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Alaina Dorsey was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ocean City only managed seven hits.
Millville not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 11-1). They blew past Cedar Creek 8-1.
Millville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Emily Praul gave up a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. Praul has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Millville let Savanna Hadley and Isabella Musey run wild. Hadley went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Musey went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Musey's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kherington Rothmel, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
St. Joseph's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Millville, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
St. Joseph came out on top in a nail-biter against Millville in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 11-9. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbolts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
