For the second straight game, First Flight will face off against Currituck County. The Nighthawks will take on the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Flight is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

First Flight had been on a seven-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Currituck County put an end to it on Tuesday. The Nighthawks fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Nighthawks were not able to get on the board.

For Currituck County's part, not much got past Abby Tankersley, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep First Flight off the board. Tankersley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Currituck County's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Julia Twine, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Morgan Eisel was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Currituck County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for First Flight, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Both First Flight and Currituck County just can't seem to miss. The Nighthawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits.
