The Flagler Panthers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 50-35 victory over Bethune on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Flagler also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Leading Flagler to victory were Lexi Witt and Sydnie Berry. Witt almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals, while Berry scored 13 points along with six steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berry has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jenna Schier, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Bethune's loss came despite strong showings from Samantha Robinson and Madilyn Powell. Robinson scored ten points along with four blocks and three steals, while Powell scored ten points along with four blocks and two steals. Robinson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Flagler's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Bethune, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Flagler won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lone Star at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th. Flagler is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so Lone Star is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Bethune, they and Wiley will face off at 2:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Bethune focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Friday.
