Lakeland  took care of business in their home opener  on Monday (and then some). They put the hurt on the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles with a sharp  18-8 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lakeland also won the last time the pair played  back in March of 2021.
  Cole Frost was a standout: he scored three  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Garrett Pieri, who  went 1-for-2 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
 On Elkhart Christian Academy's side,  Carter Hunt and  LJ Bevier stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Hunt  scored a  run while going 1-for-2, while  Bevier  went 2-for-3 with a  stolen base and two  RBI.  Isaac Hurt was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in all two of his plate appearances.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will have some time to savor their  win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakewood Park Christian at 5:30  p.m.  on April 5th. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concord at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Elkhart Christian Academy has given up an average of 18 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
