The Thomas Stone Cougars will head out on the road to take on the North Point Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Wednesday, Thomas Stone was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Leonardtown.
Thomas Stone's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jonas Agyeman, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Woodland, who scored seven points along with 17 rebounds.
North Point suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against St. Charles, falling 59-29. While losing is never fun, North Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while St. Charles is ranked 45th).
Thomas Stone's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for North Point, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-8.
Thomas Stone beat North Point 67-60 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thomas Stone since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
