2A Region 4 recap September 17, 2013
Eupora added to the longest winning streak in 2A Region 4 this week by beating Coahoma Agricultural, 42-8. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Eagles.
Calhoun City was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats triumphed over Pontotoc 28-10.
Donta Armstrong put up the best numbers in passing as Bruce fell to Water Valley. He finished with 10 completions for 135 yards. Armstrong's favorite target this week was Latrell Marks, who caught 2 passes for 32 yards.
Deangelo Liggins was the best running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 142 yards as East Webster defeated Houston. Teammate Jack Wilson added to the ground attack by rushing for 23 yards.
Chakel Gates was a passing and rushing force as Calhoun City defeated the Warriors. He completed 7 passes for 75 yards and also ran for 146 yards. Gates' favorite target this week was Lavarious Varnado, who caught 3 passes for 66 yards.
Hollenhead was the best receiver in 2A Region 4 this week as the Wolverines beat the Hilltoppers. Hollenhead racked up 3 receptions for 61 yards.
Eupora took down the Tigers 42-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
