After flying high against the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers last Tuesday, the North Miami Beach Chargers came back down to earth. North Miami Beach fell just short of Pine Forest by a score of 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why North Miami Beach lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Jaycob Joseph. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with seven assists. Joseph scored a full 42.6% of North Miami Beach's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dixson Brumaire was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Pine Forest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Markyel Wind led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Wind also pulled down eight+ rebounds for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Maurice Smith, who scored ten points along with six steals.
North Miami Beach now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Pine Forest, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
North Miami Beach will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Booker T. Washington at 7:30 p.m. As for Pine Forest, they will head out on the road to face off against Norland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Norland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
