The Paxton Tigers will take on the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves in a holiday battle at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at. Hopefully Paxton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Paxton beat Mullen 32-22. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Paxton has scored all season.
Maddex McConnell and Josh Eakins were among the main playmakers for Paxton as the former scored 16 points and the latter scored 11 points along with four steals. The contest was Eakins' fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Maywood/Hayes Center entered their tilt with Garden County with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. The stars were shining brightly for Maywood/Hayes Center in a 64-47 victory over Garden County on Tuesday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Maywood/Hayes Center did.
It was another big night for Jeremiah Ingison, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds. The match was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Haydn Farr, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Paxton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Maywood/Hayes Center's record now sits at 7-1.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Paxton have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Maywood/Hayes Center, though, as they've been averaging only 35.4 rebounds per game. Given Paxton's sizeable advantage in that area, Maywood/Hayes Center will need to find a way to close that gap.
Paxton was dealt a bruising 55-20 loss at the hands of Maywood/Hayes Center when the teams last played back in January.
