Howell's dynamic duo of Darren Ford and Jake Sanchez proved tough for Lumen Christi to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ford threw for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns and Sanchez had 118 yards receiving. John Brennan helped Howell's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 60 yards.
He was 18-32 with 1 interception.
Nick Wasyl made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Pirates bested the Cougars. The 5-foot-8 senior pulled down 2 interceptions and forced 1 fumble.
Pinckney's West and Wasyl have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback West has thrown for 1,615 yards this season, while Wasyl has 32 catches for 585 yards. Hartland's Austin Pierce leads the league in rushing yards with 1,178.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Grand Blanc takes on Brighton. The Bobcats are currently in first, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.
The Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,988 from 6,173. The advance stemmed from a 27-18 victory over Walled Lake Central last week.
