The Cherry Creek Bruins will take on the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cherry Creek is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Cherry Creek had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Legacy with a sharp 31-7 victory on Friday. Considering Cherry Creek has won eight matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cherry Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Fox out in front who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Fox was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards. Tyson Mauck did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 82 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista faced Castle View in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain Vista simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Castle View 52-20 at home. The result was nothing new for Mountain Vista, who have now won seven matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Mountain Vista relied on the efforts of Austyn Modrzewski, who threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and Jack Blais, who rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Jakhai Mack was another key contributor, picking up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Cherry Creek to 11-0 and Mountain Vista to 9-2.
Everything came up roses for Cherry Creek against Mountain Vista in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 as the squad secured a 34-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cherry Creek since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
