Courtland is 7-2 against Caroline since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Courtland Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Caroline Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Courtland has three straight victories, Caroline has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Courtland can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Chancellor. Given Courtland's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Chancellor is ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Caroline was beaten by Colonial Heights 42-7 on Friday.
Caroline's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Malik Johnson, who picked up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Myles Holmes who threw for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Courtland's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.67 points. As for Caroline, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Courtland lost to Caroline on the road by a decisive 36-22 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Courtland, Mj Morris (who picked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
