The East Lake Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
East Lake will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Clearwater on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Tornadoes. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Lucy Mondok was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Meagan Bostak was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Abigail Mitchell was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
East Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearwater only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep came up short against Academy of the Holy Names on Tuesday and fell 5-1. The Buccaneers have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Berkeley Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Malin, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Berkeley Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for East Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Berkeley Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Lake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. It's a different story for Berkeley Prep, though, as they've only averaged .340. Will they be able to contain East Lake's hitters?
East Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Berkeley Prep in their previous matchup on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
