The Centaurus Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Frederick Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Centaurus came up short against Legacy on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Centaurus took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-14, 25-16.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Frederick faced off against Broomfield on Thursday. The Golden Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
Frederick was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Broomfield work for it, especially in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-19, 15-25, 25-16, 26-24.
Centaurus will have to keep a close watch on Lily Pagel and Ava Reed, a pair of players who had a big impact on Frederick's prior game. Pagel had 13 digs and one assist, while Reed had ten kills, four digs, three aces, and two blocks. Reed is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Kyla Vejrostek also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Frederick's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Centaurus, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Everything went Centaurus' way against Frederick in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Centaurus made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
