On Thursday, the Laramie Plainsmen faced the Douglas Bearcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Laramie strolled past Douglas with points to spare, taking the game 77-61. The success was a return to things as normal for Laramie, who in their previous outing suffered a shocking 68-67 upset defeat to Central.
Leading Laramie to victory were Jaden Smith and Neil Summers. Smith scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Summers dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Summers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Busch, who scored eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Laramie's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Douglas, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-1.
Laramie won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rock Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Rock Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wyoming Rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Laramie is ranked eighth).
