The Durant Cougars's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 72-42 victory over Spoto at home. Given Durant's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Spoto is ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Durant got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wylde Correa out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Correa hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Austin White was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Durant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Spoto, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Durant and Plant will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Plant knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Durant likes a good challenge. Spoto's road trip will continue as they head out to face Carrollwood Day at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th.
