Midland hasn't had much luck against St. Bede recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will host the Bruins at 4:30 p.m. The contest will give Midland their first taste of in-conference action this season.
Last Friday, Midland came up short against Deer Creek-Mackinaw and fell 5-1.
Adalynn Stickel (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Midland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Miller (2029), who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between St. Bede and Kewanee, and St. Bede kept the tradition alive. The Bruins were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Boilermakers on Monday. Considering the Bruins have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Bede also got a great performance from Chipper Rossi as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Rossi has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lily Bosnich and Ava Balestri did most of the damage at the plate: Bosnich got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Balestri went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Bosnich has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Emma Slingsby, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
St. Bede was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kewanee only posted a batting average of .200.
With the win, St. Bede broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Midland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Midland suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to St. Bede in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
